This unique Rolex has just sold for over $5 million. A sum befitting its uniqueness.

A Rolex watch always attracts attention, but this time we're talking about a truly rare model. A unique model produced between 1950 and 1953 was sold by Monaco Legend Auctions for €5.3 million.

A Rolex watch? Virtually every model is impressive and looks perfect on the wrist. But there are some pieces that make the hearts of collectors and watchmaking connoisseurs beat faster.

One of them is definitely a Rolex Ref. 6062 in yellow gold, which was sold at Monaco Legend Auctions . For a record amount.

The Rolex Ref. 6062 was one of the most important watches to be auctioned as part of the Exclusive Timepieces event organized by Monaco Legend Auctions .

This is a unique piece, as only 350 pieces of this model were produced between 1960 and 1953. The timepiece stood out for its combination of a waterproof Oyster case, an automatic Perpetual movement, and a full calendar complication .

The model was sold with various dial options. The yellow gold example auctioned through Monaco Legend Auction features an extremely rare black dial set with six diamonds at the odd hour markers. This variant hasn't been seen publicly for nearly two decades.

The interest in the watch was enormous, and the new owner, whose identity has not been revealed, had to pay a whopping 5.33 million euros for this wonder!

This price makes the Rolex Ref. 6062 the third most expensive Swiss watch ever sold at auction, according to Robb Report. It's also a record price for this reference.

The top spot on this list is occupied by Paul Newman’s Rolex Ref. 6239 , which sold for $17.75 million in 2017, while the second spot goes to the rare 18-karat white gold Cosmograph Daytona , which fetched approximately $6.5 million in 2018.

The new owner of reference 6062 has reason to be happy, although... some savings have disappeared from his account.
