The series finale of "Stranger Things" is coming to cinemas

The first four episodes of the final season of "Stranger Things" will premiere on Netflix on November 26. The next three episodes will air on December 25, 2025, and the grand, two-hour finale, "The Rightside Up," will air on the platform on December 31. As Netflix just announced, the eighth episode of the fifth season will also be shown in over 350 theaters in the US and Canada on December 31.
This is the first time an episode of a Netflix series will be shown simultaneously on streaming and in theaters. The platform's decision shouldn't be surprising, as the Duffer brothers' series is one of its most popular titles, which has contributed to the increased interest in Netflix itself. The recent "K-pop Demon Hunters" shows that there's a demand for theatrical screenings among viewers.
The aforementioned series, although released in theaters long after its streaming premiere, earned millions of dollars there. Despite this, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos recently made it clear that his company has no intention of investing in theatrical releases and will continue to focus on streaming.
The possibility of a theatrical release of the final episode was recently announced by the creators of "Strangers Things", brothers Matt and Ross Duffer .
"It would be wonderful if fans could enjoy the finale with other fans. It would be a kind of community event. Watching the production in the reduced quality of the small screen, people have no idea how much time goes into creating the right sound and picture quality," they told Variety.
