It is difficult not to mention Tomasz Stańko when asked about the most important figures in Polish jazz.
The trumpeter, who passed away in 2018, not only had a wealth of excellent solo albums to his credit, but also participated in recordings by Maanam , Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski , and Krzysztof Komeda . His performances on the album "Astigmatic" deserve at least a gold medal!
On July 11, 2025, Tomasz Stańko would have celebrated his 83rd birthday. To mark the occasion, Rzeszów and Warsaw , two cities important to the musician's career, will host special events called "A Birthday Toast for Tomasz Stańko."
WARSAW: Birthday toast for Tomasz StańkoThe celebration will begin in Warsaw on July 11th, opening at Tomasz Stańko Square , located on Rozbrat Street, where the musician lived. A live broadcast of the Verneri Pohloja Quartet's concert with their "Monkey Mind" project will be shown on a large screen, broadcast directly from the apartment of the famous Polish jazz musician.
Before the concert, the bugle call played by Maciej Obara and Piotr Damasiewicz will be heard from the window of the venue.
Afterwards, Envee and Piotr Damasiewicz will present a joint DJ set in the square.

On Saturday, July 12, we will move to the Lubomirski Castle in Rzeszów.
The Verneri Pohjola Quartet will also perform here, but the highlight of the evening will be the concert by Stańkoizm , Envee's own project, featuring Piotr Damasiewicz , Maciej Obara , Dominik Wania , Grzegorz Tarwid , Wuja HZG , Tymek Papior , and Paulina Przybysz . What a lineup!
