The Ministry of National Education is withdrawing its announced changes, prompted by a wave of critical comments.

In July 2025, the Council of Ministers adopted a bill that allowed preschools to employ individuals who were not teachers but were qualified to conduct classes with children. As Interia points out, this applied to all classes, not just those that developed children's interests, as was the case previously.
The kindergarten revolution has been canceled. The Ministry of National Education has issued "critical comments"The draft deregulation bill, which included these changes, was supposed to return to the Sejm in September, but ultimately fell off the agenda. The spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Education has now commented on the matter.
– Due to critical comments, mainly from the academic community and trade unions, after the first reading, at the request of the Council of Ministers, the bill was withdrawn from further work – said Ewelina Gorczyca in an interview with Interia.
This type of solution was intended to provide a response to teacher shortages. The Polish education system is grappling with the problem of an aging teaching workforce. The Polish Teachers' Union presented a report from the TALIS 2024 International Teaching and Learning Survey.
"Poland was among the countries with the oldest teaching staff in the study – the average age of a teacher in grades 5-8 was 48, compared to 46 in the EU, and 44 across all countries. As many as 45% of Polish teachers are 50 or older, one of the highest percentages among the countries participating in the study. Only 4% are under 30, one of the lowest percentages in the study," we read.
Wages are still too low. "30% of zero is still zero."Teachers complain about their salaries compared to the enormous responsibility they bear. Although the Ministry of National Education emphasizes that salaries for this profession have increased in recent years, this doesn't end the matter.
"Just pay attention to one thing. I don't know all the Ministry of National Education's announcements, but the ones I do come across always focus on the percentage increase in teachers' salaries. And there's no denying it, salaries have indeed increased. But 30% of zero is still zero ," said Beata, a kindergarten teacher, just before the start of the new school year .
