Anglers caught a giant catfish. They broke the Polish and world record! With this gigantic catfish, the anglers set not only a new Polish record, but also a European and world record, according to the se.pl website. The fight with the fish lasted two and a half hours, and the catfish was caught thanks to the two men's fishing experience, physical strength, and also simple luck.
"When we heard about the competition near Rybnik, we didn't hesitate for long. Rybnik Reservoir is a real treat for anglers, especially since boat fishing is not normally allowed there," the anglers told se.pl. The men dreamed of catching a large catfish. The day before, their friend had caught a nearly two-meter specimen. "We also wanted to catch a nice fish. And we did," they report.
Anglers Explain the Behind the Scenes of Catching Catfish: "It Would Be a Sin to Do Anything Else"After catching the catfish, it was released. "We released it into the water as quickly as possible. It would have been a sin to do otherwise; it's a living monument of nature, having been alive for some 60-70 years..." say the anglers. "May it continue to be a legend in these waters and an anglers' dream," they add.
Both Krzysztof Pyra and Adrian Gontarz have been fishing for decades. They note that this passion gives them a chance to escape their daily lives and is also a lesson in humility and patience. "Fishing allows you to live your dreams, and what's more important," comments Pyra. "Especially when dreams come true!" adds Gontarz.
