Sailing festival in Szczecin. Season inauguration and round anniversary

The Szczecin Sailing Center officially opened the 2025 sailing season on Saturday, May 10, and at the same time celebrated a special anniversary - the tenth anniversary of its activity. An open day is taking place at the marina on Przestrzenna Street, which attracted many water sports enthusiasts and entire families.
The resort area is bustling with life from early morning. The programme includes cruises on the "Dar Szczecina" and "Zryw" yachts, kayaking trips, sailing equipment shows, entertainment for children, meetings with trainers and a tasting of the anniversary cake. Visitors can take a look behind the scenes of everyday sailing, talk to instructors and see how one of the most important marinas in Western Pomerania functions.
- We met today to inaugurate the tenth sailing season at our marina. We have come a long way in this decade. When we took over this facility in 2015, there were only 70 berths. Today we have over 200, and the marina is bustling with life all year round. We have active sports sections, a place for campers, and we plan to expand the accommodation base. The center has become an open space not only for sailors, but for everyone who wants to spend time actively and pleasantly by the water - says Celina Wołosz, spokesperson for the Sailing Center.
As he emphasises, the greatest success of the last ten years is the change in the image of Szczecin in the eyes of the sailing community: - I think that such an unusual but extremely important success is the fact that Szczecin is now recognisable on the sailing map of Europe. It is not just Masuria anymore. We have a strong base, a modern marina, and our competitors win championship titles - and not only in Poland, but also in the world.
The mayor of Szczecin, Piotr Krzystek, who was present at the event, emphasized the role of the Sailing Center in the development of water sports and tourism in the city:
- Over the course of ten years, the Centre has become a true showcase for our city - he said. - It is not only a place to learn to sail, but above all a space for building a community. I am glad that Szczecin has focused so much on water sportsmen and that this investment is bringing such spectacular results.
In addition to the anniversary celebrations and the attractions prepared for the open day, plans for the coming months were also announced. Magdalena Piasecka, Director of Sports and Tourism, reminded about the upcoming courses and regattas:
- We have the Magnolia Cup, the President's Cup Regatta and RegatON ahead of us - an event dedicated to people with disabilities - she listed. - We are also starting sea cruises and sailing camps for young people. We are constantly developing the offer and we want the Center to be a place accessible to everyone.
