Sheinbaum reaffirms the opening of 350,000 higher education spaces in the State of Mexico.

At a ceremony held in the State of Mexico , President Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed her commitment to opening 350,000 higher education spaces to ensure that all young people who wish to study can access university. The declaration came during the inauguration of the third Rosario Castellanos National University in the state, part of an ambitious educational plan that seeks to meet the growing demand for higher education in the country.
Sheinbaum emphasized that " everyone who wishes to study should have the opportunity to do so in a public school " and that it is the responsibility of the Mexican State to guarantee this right, enshrined in Article 3 of the Constitution . She also noted that during the neoliberal period, the construction of public universities was halted, as education was considered a paid good, while the Fourth Transformation aims to make universal access to education a reality.
According to his statements, to ensure that 55% of young people have access to university , approximately one million additional spaces are required, with a total of two million to cover full demand. This commitment is in addition to the 200,000 spaces created by the Benito Juárez Universities of Welfare during the administration of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador .
Sheinbaum Pardo announced that each of the ten municipalities in the eastern part of the State of Mexico , where major infrastructure projects are being carried out, will have at least one Rosario Castellanos University campus. In Chalco, for example, 5,000 young people enrolled, although the campus has capacity for 1,000 in-person students , so the remaining 4,000 are pursuing their studies remotely.
Governor Delfina Gómez emphasized that more campuses are planned to open to meet student demand, while Rosaura Ruiz , Secretary of Science, Humanities, Technology and Innovation, stated that enrollment at the new campus " exceeds the supply; we have to do more. It's a great success ."
Secretary of Public Education Mario Delgado noted that education is a key focus of the Fourth Transformation , reflecting the government's priority on ensuring educational opportunities for all young people in the country.
Prior to the inauguration, Sheinbaum also visited Chicoloapan , where she handed out more than a thousand cards in support of women , and held an evaluation with local authorities on the comprehensive development plan for the eastern part of the State of Mexico. The president highlighted the collaboration with state and local authorities, noting the closeness and willingness of Governor Delfina Gómez, who, according to Sheinbaum, " has not been overcome by the arrogance or petulance that later occurs with leaders ."
With the opening of more universities and the creation of 350,000 additional educational spaces , the federal government reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that higher education is accessible to all young people who wish to continue their studies. The combination of infrastructure, flexible enrollment, and distance learning options seeks to meet the growing demand and ensure that education ceases to be a privilege and becomes an effective right for the entire population.
The strengthening of the education system in the State of Mexico reflects not only an effort to expand university coverage , but also a boost to the region's social and economic development, consolidating education as a fundamental pillar of progress and equity in Mexico.
