Drimer, a startup for dream trips
Drimer's co-founders saw the emergence of artificial intelligence as an opportunity to revolutionize the travel industry. "The sector has always been one of the first to embrace new technological advances, such as online sales," says Carlos Sáez Alfonsea, who worked at a travel agency before founding Drimer. The other two entrepreneurs are Néstor Malet and Javier Expósito Fernández.
At the beginning of 2022, the co-founders launched what is known as the minimum viable product, a first version with the essential features to be tested with real consumers. The success led them to establish a company in April of that same year. The key to success: "We have created a platform that uses artificial intelligence to create a bookable trip in a matter of seconds," says Saéz, who serves as CEO.
Based in Sant Just Desvern, the startup has a staff of ten people.
DrimerInitially, Drimer targeted content creators or influencers specialized in this sector, so they could offer dream trips to their audiences. Hence the name, which comes from the pronunciation of the English word " dream ." However, the company's current focus is travel agencies and tour operators. "For them, it's a great productivity tool because it saves a lot of time when managing all the paperwork," he says.
The entrepreneur. Thanks to this new approach, the co-founders expect to increase their turnover from €500,000 last year to €800,000 this year, and surpass €1 million by 2026.
Among the clients of this Sant Just Desvern-based startup with a staff of ten are Southern Cross, Grupo Atlántida, Inca Travel Agency, and Stamp by Stamp Travel. They work primarily for the domestic market, but Drimer has already begun traveling to other destinations, with Latin America as its first stop.
To get here, the entrepreneurs have closed two rounds of funding, raising two million euros. “Most of the money has been for the development of the platform and artificial intelligence,” adds Sáez. Currently, the three partners are seeking to raise a third round of one million euros to finance the startup's international expansion, particularly in Latin America and the United States, as well as to continue improving its technology. The ultimate goal: “To be a benchmark in artificial intelligence in the travel sector,” says the entrepreneur.
