'El Abuelo' fractured La Barredora

'El Abuelo' fractured La Barredora

The insecurity crisis that shook Tabasco at the end of 2023 and the fracture of the criminal group La Barredora were caused by the leader of the criminal organization and Secretary of State Security and Citizen Protection: Hernán Bermúdez Requena, "El Abuelo" , according to the testimony before the FGR of the police chief's private secretary.

Bermúdez's subordinate, who became a collaborating witness - with the acronym CTDR -, declared that on December 22, 2023, Bermúdez called Carlos Tomás Díaz "Licenciado Tomasín" by phone and asked him to contact Daniel Hernández Montejo "El Prada" - both leaders of La Barredora - and take him the same day to his house at Calle La Venta 132, in the Fraccionamiento Campestre de Villahermosa .
Upon reaching Bermúdez Requena 's residence, the two were ambushed with gunfire. "El Licenciado Tomasín," still bleeding, entered Bermúdez's house through the gym and complained about the attack. "El Abuelo"' s bodyguards took him to the hospital, while "El Prada" managed to escape.
From what happened, it seems that the latter was the true target of the attack.
During their escape, the gunmen of "El Prada" "picked up" outside the subdivision state agents Isabelino García de la Rosa "El Chabelo" and José Zapata Jiménez, "Pepe Zapata" , who were under the command of Ulises Pinto Madera "El Mamado" and presumably had tried to kill him on that occasion.

In this context, Governor Carlos Merino tasked Bermúdez Requena with pacifying the state and stemming the wave of violence stemming from the internal dispute over La Barredora , given that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would be in the state by the end of the year.
Tabasco experienced vehicle burnings, attacks on businesses, shootings, and attempted prison riots following state agents' attempt to assassinate "El Prada" and "Licenciado Tomasín."
Bermúdez sent CTDR to speak with "El Prada" to ask him to put an end to the wave of violence. "(He asked him to tell him) that if he had to kill the police officers Chabelo and Pepe Zapata, he should do it, that it was fine, that he even authorized him to kill them but that he should not do it in those days, that he only asked that the bodies appear somewhere else, after the President was in Tabasco, and also that he not leave them in Villahermosa, that he should throw them in Chiapas or Campeche, but not leave them in Tabasco, because it wouldn't suit anyone, since there were already too many problems and the interim Governor, Captain Merino, already had many questions at the security table," the collaborating witness recounts.

"Hernán Bermúdez Requena, alias 'El Abuelo,' told me to calm Daniel Hernández Montejo, alias 'Prada' or 'Chichirria,' to make him see reason; to tell him that the acting Governor had tasked Hernán Bermúdez Requena, alias 'El Abuelo,' with controlling this whole mess because it had gotten out of control, to clean up his mess and return everything to normal, to stop the burning of cars and stores; and that everything should be fine, since President Andrés Manuel López Obrador would be passing through Villahermosa to travel to Chiapas to spend the December holidays and would return again at the beginning of 2024 to inaugurate an event in Villahermosa, and everything should already be under control."

"Because of everything that was happening at that time in Tabasco, Hernán Bermúdez Requena 'El Abuelo' asked me to tell Daniel Hernández Montejo, 'Prada' or 'Chichirria' that it was not convenient for them that the State was in such chaos because he, that is to say Hernán Bermúdez Requena , already had the Army , the Attorney General's Office and the National Guard on his back."
In fact, when "El Prada" later asked to see him face to face, Bermúdez accepted the meeting and they met on January 3, 2024, in an open field esplanade among the mountains, in a place known as the "T" , which leads to the Municipality of Jalapa, Tabasco .
Hernández Montejo arrived with 300 armed men and the heads of "El Chabelo" and "Pepe Zapata," the police officers who had tried to kill him. Bermúdez arrived in a vehicle he refused to get out of. Although he was afraid of the situation, he still maintained that he was the boss of La Barredora and therefore shouldn't get out of the vehicle.
CTDR reports that he convinced "El Abuelo" to get out of the vehicle so that "El Prada" would "calm down and stop all the chaos he was causing" and also advised Bermúdez to tell him that the only person responsible for the attack was "El Mamado."

Ulises Pinto Madera "The Sucker"

The alleged leader of La Barredora was there because he also had to ask Hernández Montejo for the return of the state agents assigned as escorts, patrol cars, tactical equipment, and weapons, because Governor Merino had already requested his resignation, according to CTDR .
That same day, Bermúdez returned to the office to submit his resignation.
"Days after President López Obrador 's visit, the head of one of the police officers who participated in the attack on Daniel Hernández Montejo , alias 'Prada,' appeared in the municipality of Pichucalco, Chiapas state ," the protected witness recounts.
Among the documentation seized from Hernán Bermúdez Requena, "El Abuelo" , the FGR found a death certificate of Daniel Hernández Montejo, "El Prada" or "La Chichirria" , one of the main leaders of La Barredora .
This is one of the documents that the Attorney General's Office found on January 30, 2024, in a camper that it searched on the property located at 21 Prolongación de 27 de Febrero Avenue, Club del Lago Colony, in Villahermosa.
The death certificate is probably apocryphal, since CTDR , a collaborating witness for the Prosecutor's Office, stated that three years ago Hernández Montejo , currently a fugitive from justice, underwent plastic surgery on his face and ears to simulate his death.

"He currently uses another name because he applied for a passport under another identity. In 2022, he presumed himself dead, undergoing surgery on his ears and part of his face. This situation is known to CTDR because he told them himself, saying he wanted to go unnoticed. He told them this in some offices in the Tamulté neighborhood."
