Third term and frictions on healthcare: majority summit in the centre-right

An important majority summit between the political forces that lead the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region will be held in the early afternoon after the tensions that emerged in recent days in the center-right. The 5 party secretaries and the president Massimiliano Fedriga will meet online. Participants will include: Walter Rizzetto for Fratelli d'Italia, Marco Dreosto for the League, Sandra Savino for Forza Italia and Angelo Compagnon for the UDC.

It will be a delicate meeting, especially in view of the decision that the Council of Ministers will take tomorrow on the possible challenge of the electoral law that allows the President of the Autonomous Province of Trento to a third term.

Adding to the tension among the leaders of the majority were the recent statements made by Minister Luca Ciriani, who harshly criticized the management of healthcare, in particular the management of the move of the Pordenone hospital to its new location.

The feeling is that today's summit will serve Fedriga to close ranks and reiterate the need for a compact march of the alliance. In the event of a definitive rift with Fdi, Fedriga could decide to go ahead, bring the electoral law to the Regional Council for examination and choose to be voted out of confidence to go to an early vote, not being able to count on the yes of the Melonians to the measure. But among the hypotheses that have emerged there is also the possible reshuffle of delegations within the council, also by virtue of the provocation launched by the regional councilor Riccardo Riccardi, who during the last meeting of the executive on Friday said he was available to put the delegation for Health on the table, offering it to Fdi.
