World Day of Older Persons, conference at the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies in Naples

A conference on the occasion of World Older Persons' Day will be held in the hall of the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies on Saturday, October 4th at 10:15 a.m., chaired by Natale Gaspare De Santo, Arturo Martorelli, Paolo Ciambelli , and Francesco Rossi . Following an introductory address by Arturo Martorelli, speakers will include Natale Gaspare De Santo, president of the "Older Persons in Our Society" section and professor emeritus of the Vanvitelli University, and Paolo Ciambelli, representing the European Association of Emeritus Professors. (“The Role of Emeritus Professors at the University of Salerno”) and Francesco Rossi, Emeritus Professor at the Luigi Vanvitelli University (“The Age-Friendly University”). They will be followed by Don Tonino Palmese , Ombudsman for Prisoners at the Municipality of Naples (“The Frailty of Prisoners”), Raffaele Cananzi , former Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and State Attorney General (“Contents of the Most Recent Italian Legislation on the Condition of the Elderly and Application Requests”), Antonio Maione , of the volunteer association La Mano sulla Roccia (“Helping the Elderly Achieve Joy and Happiness”), Alessandra Perna and Margherita Borriello , Luigi Vanvitelli University (“Old Age is Not an Illness”). The closing speaker will be Piero Antonio Toma , (“Old Age According to an Elderly Journalist and Writer”), author of the afterword to the forthcoming volume “ Old Age” , edited by Natale Gaspare De Santo and published by the Scuola di Pitagora . During his presentation, Toma will read a poem he dedicated to Gerardo Marotta, the historic founder of the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies , which was later set to music and performed by singer-songwriter Lino Blandizzi . The presentations will be followed by a discussion featuring Aldo Bova, president of the Sociosanitaria Forum ; Liana Nunziata, principal of the Tito Lucrezio Caro High School with a delegation of her students; and Roberto Dante Cogliandro, professor at Pegaso University.
