Fiorina Berezovsky crowned French cadet with the Monte-Carlo Chess Club

The French Youth Chess Championship was held this year in Vichy, from April 27 to May 4. Among the many talented players from all over France, eight young players representing the Cercle d'Échecs de Monte-Carlo (CEMC) flew the flag for their club and the Principality. Supervised by their two coaches, Svetlana Berezovska and Patrice Martinelli, these young competitors – four girls and four boys – experienced an intense week of competition and emotion. The most notable performance was undoubtedly that of Fiorina Berezovsky, crowned French Cadet Champion (U18F) with an impressive score of 7.5 points out of 9. "A magnificent progression for Fiorina, who had obtained the title of vice-champion in 2024," the club congratulated itself. His games, broadcast live on the Internet, aroused the enthusiasm of the club members, "who fervently followed his journey to victory" .
What's next? A title to defendKimberley Ribbegren (U10F) finished in an excellent 14th place with 6 points, thus qualifying directly for the 2026 French championship. Mélissa Lea (U12F) ranked 25th with 5.5 points, confirming a good consistency in the game. In the U12 boys, François Charrier and Nikita Kriuchkov each scored 5 points, placing 44th and 48th respectively, while Victor Stoyanov finished 87th with 4 points. In the U16F, Ambre Thoreux-Josso ranked 37th with 4.5 points. In the U14, Nam Long To, in a very high-level category, finished his course 147th with 3 points.
"These results demonstrate the high level of the competition, and above all the remarkable commitment of the young players. Qualifying for this championship is already an achievement; shining in it is a reward for their work and their passion," the club reacted.
A notable fact this year: the best results came from girls, proof of the growing strength of the women's sector within the CEMC.
Fiorina's performance will be duly celebrated on June 7 at the Monaco Youth Championship, which will be held at the Maison des Associations.
The adventure continues for the CEMC: starting on May 8, the women's team will defend its title in the Women's Top 12, the French club championship in Paris. Their goal: to reach the semifinals by finishing among the top two in their group. As the reigning French champions, the CEMC players will be aiming for a double.
