Burgundy-Franche-Comté. Chikungunya: a second indigenous case confirmed near Dijon

It didn't take long for the invasive tiger mosquito to claim a second victim. Just four days after the announcement of the first indigenous case confirmed in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, in Dijon, a second case of chikungunya was confirmed on August 11 by the National Reference Center for Arboreal Tree-Eating Animals, as announced this Tuesday by the Regional Health Agency (ARS). This involves a person living "within the perimeter of the first case."

Also, "to prevent the spread of the disease, immediate preventive measures are being deployed around places where sick people pass through," such as this mosquito control operation that took place during the night of August 11 to 12. A door-to-door survey has begun. It is being conducted by agents from the ARS, Public Health France, and the City of Dijon, with the aim of "reminding people of preventive measures, identifying people who may be showing or have shown symptoms suggestive of chikungunya, and informing them about what to do."

The agency reminds that if a person is suspected of having chikungunya, a free test can be carried out on site by a healthcare professional or upon prescription for a laboratory test.
