One driver dead, another seriously injured in morning crash near Exeter

One person is dead and another seriously injured after a two vehicle crash Friday morning in South Huron, near Exeter.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m., said Craig Soldan, constable with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Emergency crews were called to the scene at London Road, also known as Highway 4, just north of Hurondale Road, where they found the car and SUV.

"Each vehicle had just a driver, no passengers," said Soldan. "Unfortunately, one of the drivers was pronounced deceased. The other driver has been airlifted to London with serious injuries and we're waiting for an update on their condition."

Additional details about the victims is not yet known, he said.

Hwy. 4 will be closed between MacDonald Road all the way to Rodgerville Road, south of Hensall for several hours Friday afternoon as police investigate.

During this time, drivers are reminded to not take it upon themselves to sweep up the crash debris, said Soldan.

"If you ever come upon a crash, please leave everything where it is and don't move or clean up any items," he said. "Those pieces of debris could be very important for us to rebuild or reconstruct a collision."

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact OPP.
