Langs school buses cancelled all day Monday

Dozens of school bus routes in the London area have been cancelled Monday as one of the main bus operators in southwestern Ontario begins safety checks on its vehicles.
Early Monday, Langs Bus Lines said 186 routes would be suspended as a "precautionary measure" while the company conducted immediate inspections of their electric fleet, according to a statement posted to My Big Yellow Bus.
This comes after a school bus caught fire in Montreal last week. The vehicle belonged to Lion Electric, which is the same type of buses Langs Bus Lines uses in London.
"As a result of the safety bulletin released by Lion Electric the decision was made to remove the electric vehicles from service to ensure safety of students and staff," the Langs statement said. A spokesperson did not return calls to CBC News on Monday morning.
The statement said the inspections were starting right away, and that the school buses were expected to make a gradual return to service Tuesday.
Five routes, run by other companies, are still in service. Buses to College Avenue Secondary School, Clarke Road Secondary School and Dunwich-Dutton Secondary School, as well as one route to Lord Dorchester Secondary School and Westminster Secondary School are operating as usual.
Families can check My Big Yellow Bus for more information on when routes are back in service.
More to come.
