Attempted murder charge laid after alleged attack on toddler in east London

A London woman is in police custody facing an attempted murder charge following an alleged attack against a toddler in the city's east end, London police announced Wednesday.
The alleged attack happened on Tuesday evening at approximately 7:15 p.m., in the area of Marconi Boulevard and Marconi Court, police said. They claim officers responded to a 911 call to a home in the area, where they learned a woman tried to cause life-threatening injuries to a three-year-old child.
The suspect, a 29-year-old London woman who was known to the child, was arrested nearby and charged with one count of attempting ot commit murder.
Police didn't say whether the child was entirely unharmed, but said the child "did not sustain any physical injuries requiring medical attention," in a media statement.
Because of the child's relationship with the suspect, police are refusing to name the accused in order to protect the victim's privacy.
The accused remained in custody Wednesday afternoon, with a same-day court date scheduled in London.
Police are asking residents who have information regarding the incident to reach out to them, or to get in touch with London Middlesex Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip.
