Strengthening Ruble Boosts Holiday Demand: Türkiye Remains Russian Favorite

The appreciation of the Russian ruble has revitalized Russian tourists' plans for international vacations in the summer of 2025. With the dollar's exchange rate dropping to 78 rubles, international travel has become more accessible for Russians, with Turkey once again the most popular destination.
According to data reported by Business FM, approximately 7 million Russian tourists chose Türkiye this summer. Antalya topped the list with its abundance of direct flights and wide range of accommodation options. Russian holidaymakers showed strong interest in Türkiye, which offers both affordable and comfortable options.
Egypt, UAE and Maldives are followingAccording to information on the TürkRussian portal, Egypt follows Türkiye, a destination that's attractive year-round. Its all-inclusive concept, the convenience of direct flights, and hotel discounts of up to 40-50% during the summer months make Egypt particularly attractive.
Despite summer temperatures approaching 50 degrees Celsius, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranked third thanks to its low prices and seasonal promotions at five-star hotels. Meanwhile, the Maldives, known for its off-season discounts, are also among the high-demand destinations.
Europe is Interesting, but TroublesomeEurope remains an attractive option for high-income Russian vacationers. However, delays in the Schengen visa application process, the necessity of connecting flights, and rising airfares make these destinations more challenging. Despite this, countries like Greece, France, and Italy remain popular. Individual tourists planning their holidays in deluxe hotels can spend anywhere from 800,000 to 1 million rubles (approximately $13,000) per week.
Vietnam is the surprise destination of the 2025 summer season. With direct flights to Nha Trang, calm seas, and fresh seafood, Vietnam has quickly gained popularity among Russian tourists. A week's stay at a five-star hotel costs around 200,000 rubles (approximately $2,500), making the country attractive in terms of value for money.
Visa and Flight Barriers ContinueDespite rising holiday demand due to the ruble's appreciation, visa requirements and the lack of direct flights remain key obstacles for Russian tourists. However, certain destinations, particularly Turkey, maintain their appeal in the Russian market thanks to the conveniences they offer.
