25 more suspects in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality corruption investigation are in court
As part of the investigation into the Aziz İhsan Aktaş criminal organization, 25 suspects who were detained on charges of rigging tenders at İSFALT and İETT, affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality ( İBB ), were referred to the courthouse.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is continuing an investigation into the criminal organization of which Aktaş is alleged to be the ringleader. Twenty-five suspects, including İETT General Manager İrfan Demet, who were detained in an operation conducted as part of the investigation for alleged bid rigging, have been processed at the police station. The suspects were taken for medical checks and later transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan.
OPERATION
The investigation was launched after it was determined that members of the organization had been involved in rigging tenders won by İSFALT and İETT. Teams from the Istanbul Police Department's Financial Crimes Branch conducted operations in Istanbul, Antalya, Çanakkale, Trabzon, Bursa, and Giresun to apprehend suspects, including members of tender committees.
