National pride! Nesrin Baş in the World Wrestling Championship finals

Nesrin Baş, wrestling in the 72-kilogram (170-pound) weight class, maintained her chances of winning the gold medal by defeating China's Zelu Li 9-6 in the semifinals. Baş will now face Ukraine's Alla Belinska in the final tomorrow.

Competing in the women's 72-kilogram (172-pound) category at the Senior World Championships, Nesrin Baş defeated Slovakian Zsuzsanna Molnar 9-4 in the first round to advance to the quarterfinals. She then pinned Romanian Alexandra N. Anghel, who was leading 3-0, in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals.
