Espionage investigation against Ekrem İmamoğlu

An investigation has been launched into CHP presidential candidate and imprisoned Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu, İmamoğlu's campaign director Necati Özkan, and journalist Merdan Yanardağ for "espionage." Yanardağ was taken into custody while police conducted a search at Tele1.
İmamoğlu and Özkan were ordered to appear at the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to testify. Merdan Yanardağ was also detained at his home.
Details of the operation are as follows:
CLAIM THAT USER INFORMATION IN THE APPLICATION WAS SOLD TO FOREIGN COUNTRIES As a result of the technical and physical surveillance of the documents and the person named Hüseyin Gün, who was arrested on the allegation of espionage on July 4, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office claims to have accessed various data.
Materials belonging to Hüseyin Gün allege that he held meetings with individuals linked to the terrorist organization FETÖ/PDY, and that Gün also met face-to-face with Mustafa Özcan, the alleged "FETÖ imam in England."
It is also alleged that Gün had contact with İmamoğlu's campaign director, Necati Özkan, suggesting a hierarchical link.
It is alleged that activities were carried out to manipulate the 2019 local elections "in cooperation with foreign intelligence services."
