BBC: Jose Mourinho close to Benfica

Former Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is close to reaching an agreement with Portuguese club Benfica, according to the British BBC.

Jose Mourinho signed a two-year, one-year contract with Fenerbahçe in front of tens of thousands of fans in June 2024. Last season, Mourinho's Fenerbahçe finished second behind Galatasaray in the Süper Lig with 84 points.
This season, Benfica eliminated Fenerbahçe 1-0 in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off tie, thanks to a 35th-minute goal from Kerem Aktürkoğlu. The Mourinho era ended after this match.
Yesterday (September 16), Azerbaijan's Karabakh pulled off the surprise of the night with a 3-2 away win over Benfica. Following the match, manager Bruno Lage's contract was terminated.
Benfica President Rui Costa announced that they will announce their manager by Saturday (September 20).
According to the BBC , Mourinho is close to becoming Benfica's new manager.
Sources speaking to US-based ESPN also confirmed that the Portuguese coach is in talks with Benfica.
Jose Mourinho played 62 matches for the Yellow Canaries. During his time at Fenerbahçe, he recorded 37 wins, 14 draws and 11 losses.
The Portuguese coach achieved a rating average of 2.02 in Fenerbahçe.
