An incident straight out of a movie! A businessman kidnapped in Izmir was rescued in Istanbul, and 5 people were detained.

Relatives of AA, a textile businessman who had been visiting Izmir, contacted the police and requested assistance, claiming they had not heard from him. Investigations revealed that AA had been taken to Istanbul by his abductors. Following a tip-off to the Istanbul Police Department, teams from the Extortion Bureau launched an investigation. It was determined that AA had been abducted and initially brought to the Karacabey district of Bursa, where he was handed over to other suspects who had come from Istanbul. Police identified the license plate of the car used by the suspects and found it parked in Bağcılar. The investigation determined that the suspects had parked their vehicle at a nearby complex.

The businessman was rescued in an operation organized by AA and 5 suspects were detained in connection with the incident.

3 people were arrested

The suspects questioned at the Extortion Bureau stated in their statements that they were trying to collect 15 million lira in debts owed to AA's family members. Suspects VA (39), AK (27), OY (24), EK (44), and DK (25) were referred to the courthouse after the procedures. Of the suspects, OY, EK, and DK were arrested, while AK was placed under house arrest, and VA was released on probation under the condition of a travel ban.
