WhatsApp faces data security lawsuit

According to American media, Attaullah Baig, a security chief at WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Meta, filed a lawsuit against the company, alleging that platform officials had ignored several privacy violations that posed cybersecurity risks. In the lawsuit filed in San Francisco District Court, Baig stated that he discovered violations during security audits of the app. He argued that hundreds of employees had easily accessed sensitive user data, such as contacts and locations. He alleged that Meta management failed to take action despite reporting these violations to their managers. The security chief claimed that the company fired him in response. The company denied the allegations, claiming that Baig was fired for poor performance.
