US Air Force Converts Boeing 747-8 Given to It by Qatar

The US Air Force has begun converting a Boeing 747-8 passenger jet, gifted by Qatar. While it's been announced that the aircraft will be used for future government flights, details about the project are being kept secret.

Officials did not disclose the cost, timeline, or contractor details for the aircraft's conversion. This distinguishes the project from the official VC-25B program, which will replace existing Air Force Ones.

The only known detail is that some of the funding for the conversion was transferred from the Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missile program. The work is expected to take approximately one year. According to US media, defense company L3Harris is also involved in the project.
