Operation against social media fraudsters! 14 arrests

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared a post on his social media account, announcing that operations were conducted in Ankara, Adana, Muğla, and Edirne, as well as in Mersin, Niğde, Gaziantep, Kocaeli, Bursa, Istanbul, Batman, Manisa, Izmir, Şanlıurfa, Kayseri, Diyarbakır, and Denizli as part of the fight against cybercrime. The operation caught 34 suspects who defrauded citizens by posting fake "motorcycle" ads on social media platforms, facilitated gambling by enabling the installation of gambling applications on internet-connected operating systems, and committed fraud by posting "investment consultancy and agricultural loan" ads on websites. Fourteen of these were arrested, and judicial control measures were imposed on 13. The proceedings against the others are ongoing. Based on reports from the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK), 30 residences, six vehicles, and 40 bank accounts belonging to the suspects, worth approximately 225 million TL, were seized.
Congratulating the governors, chief public prosecutors, the Department of Combating Cyber Crimes, provincial gendarmerie commanders, the gendarmerie, and MASAK employees, Yerlikaya said, “We are not letting those who try to disturb the peace of our citizens in digital media, just as they do on the streets.”
