In another high-scoring encounter, reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain defeated Bayer Leverkusen by a decisive scoreline away from home. The French team won 7-2. PSG's goals came from William Pacho, Desire Doue (2), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Nuno Mendes, Ousmane Dembele, and Vitinha.

In one of the surprise results of the night, Benfica, under Jose Mourinho, lost 3-0 away to Newcastle United.
