Minister Uraloğlu: Istanbul-Seville flights will be reciprocal 7 days a week

Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu spoke at the opening ceremony of Turkish Airlines' Istanbul-Seville route at Seville Airport. Minister Uraloğlu stated that civil aviation is one of the most important cornerstones of the modern world, saying, "The Istanbul-Seville flights, which begin today, will operate round-trip seven days a week. This route will bring the unique beauty of Seville to the Turkish people and the rich culture and hospitality of Türkiye to our Spanish friends."
Minister Uraloğlu stated that air transportation not only transports people from one place to another but also brings cultures together, revitalizes economies, and strengthens bridges of friendship. He said, "With this very mission, Turkish Airlines continues its journey as a global brand that unites the world with the bridges it builds in the sky. As one of the strongest members of the Star Alliance, Turkish Airlines is not just an airline but also a source of pride for our country in the global arena. Thankfully, under the leadership of our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, acting with the vision of 'There will be no place in the world we cannot reach,' we have made our country one of the countries with the most extensive flight networks in aviation."
'WILL STRENGTHEN TIES EVEN MORE'Minister Uraloğlu emphasized that Turkish Airlines has a deep-rooted history of operations in Spain, saying, "Our adventure began with flights to Madrid in 1984 and continued with Barcelona in 1992. We then added Malaga, Valencia, and Bilbao to our flight network. As of the 2025 summer schedule, Turkish Airlines operates 91 scheduled flights weekly from Istanbul Airport to Spain."
Minister Uraloğlu stated, "This success is one of the best indicators of Turkish Airlines' growth strategy in Europe and the rise of Istanbul Airport as a global hub. As you know, Turkey and Spain, as two ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean, have a deep friendship shaped by art, culture, and trade for centuries. These ties, which began in the Ottoman period and are strengthening in every field today, will be further strengthened with the new Seville route. Spain welcomes millions of visitors every year with its iconic structures, including the Alcázar Palace, the Giralda Tower, and Seville Cathedral, all listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Istanbul-Seville flights, which begin today, will be operated seven days a week, round-trip, with our modern Airbus A321neo aircraft. This new route will further strengthen the human ties between our two countries by revitalizing tourism, trade, and cultural interaction."

Minister Uraloğlu also announced that, following discussions with the Spanish Civil Aviation Authority, AJet will begin operating three-frequency Ankara-Madrid flights per week starting October 23, 2025, and four-frequency Ankara-Barcelona flights per week starting October 24, 2025. He added, "With these new routes, direct flights will be available between the two capitals for the first time. We'd like to share this good news with you here. May it bring you good fortune."
