The sickening incident took place in an abandoned house in the Hilal neighborhood of Konak district on February 23. Police launched an operation at the address after receiving a tip that a horse was being slaughtered.

Mert Ö. (42), Abdülbaki Ö. (24), Cani İ. (24) and A.Ö. (16), who were determined to have been slaughtering animals illegally, were detained by the police. During the searches conducted at the address, the slaughtered horse parts were also found. Upon the instructions of the prosecutor, A.Ö. was delivered to his family.

The three suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, were released on condition of judicial control. It was learned that the suspects were preparing to put the meat on the market before the month of Ramadan.
