Mutlu Kaya started walking after 10 years: I made a promise to my deceased sister Dilek Kaya

Mutlu Kaya (29), who was shot in the head by her ex-boyfriend in Diyarbakır in 2015 and received treatment for a long time, started walking without support after a 10-year struggle. Kaya said, "I can now take a step with my own effort. Sometimes I can take 100 steps on my own. Sometimes, when I feel psychologically bad, I walk between 20 and 50 steps."

Mutlu Kaya, who lives in the Ergani district of Diyarbakır and gained recognition through a singing competition on a television channel, was shot in the head in an armed attack in front of her home by her ex-boyfriend on May 18, 2015. Seriously injured, Kaya was treated in intensive care for a long time.

He experienced a first after 10 years. Mutlu Kaya's story was touching: I made a promise to my dead sister.

HE HAS BEEN UNDERGOING TREATMENT FOR YEARS

Having lost the ability to speak and walk, Kaya began to speak and walk with support after receiving treatments in Istanbul and abroad.

Mutlu Kaya, shaken once again by the murder of her sister, Dilek Kaya , by her live-in boyfriend on March 22, 2020, has begun walking without support after a 10-year struggle. Kaya can walk between 30 and 100 steps without support.

"I WAS SHOT BY THE MURDERER"

Mutlu Kaya, who explained that the number of steps she takes changes depending on her psychological state, said, “Ten years ago, I was shot in the head by a murderer. I was in a coma for months. The doctors said I was going to die, that it would be a miracle if I survived. I clung to life, but I didn't. Afterward, the doctors said I was very strong. I screamed for treatment for years, but no one heard me. Some artists, knowing their own names, didn't offer me hope and undertake my treatment. For years, no one reached out. But I always had a hero: my sister, Songül Kaya. She was always there for me, holding my hand and saying, 'We will succeed.' Finally, I succeeded, and now I can take a step. Sometimes I can take 100 steps alone, and sometimes, when I'm feeling psychologically down, I can take 20-50.”

"MY DEAD SISTER, I PROMISED"

Mutlu Kaya, explaining that she promised her sister Dilek Kaya that she would walk to her grave, said, “I’ve done everything I can. I will never give up my fight, but I need treatment at a very good hospital. The doctors say, ‘You can get better,’ and that gives me hope. I promised my sister I would walk to her grave. I love football. I also love Oshimen, Mauro Icardi, and İlkay Gündoğan. When I get better, I want to go watch the match. I follow them all the time.”
