Signatures signed for the giant project: 1.4 billion Euro foreign loan

According to information obtained from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, efforts to secure financing from abroad for the infrastructure of the Southeastern Anatolia Region, which was affected by the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş, are continuing.
With the work carried out by the Ministry in this direction, approximately 1.4 billion Euros of external financing was provided for the Dörtyol-Hassa Highway and Railway Project.
Financing agreements were signed between the Ministry and creditors led by Societe Generale. The financing included the Swedish Export Credit Agency (EKN) and various commercial banks under the guarantee of the Islamic Investment Insurance and Export Credit Corporation (ICIEC), which operates under the Islamic Development Bank.
The tender for the Dörtyol-Hassa Railway and Highway Tunnels Project, held two years ago, was undertaken by the Doğuş İnşaat-Eze İnşaat joint venture.
The project has strategic importance.
The project, conducted by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure's General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments, is of strategic importance because it directly connects İskenderun Bay to the Southeastern Anatolia Region. The completion of the project, which will connect İskenderun Bay to the industrial areas behind the Amanos Mountains and to the province of Gaziantep by both road and rail, is expected to improve the region's transportation infrastructure, increase trade and tourism activities, support economic and social development, and significantly contribute to Türkiye's exports. The project is also important for improving and making the region's transportation infrastructure earthquake-resistant.
With this project, the amount of external resources provided by Türkiye to the railway sector this year reached approximately 4.2 billion euros.
