September rent increase rate is announced

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) will announce August inflation data at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The figures will also make the rent increase rate for September official.

The rent increase for residential and commercial properties in August was calculated at 41.13 percent. Accordingly, tenants whose leases were renewed in August saw their payments increase by 41.13 percent. For tenants renewing in September, the increase is expected to remain below 40 percent.

The rent increase rate for 2025 is determined according to the Turkish Code of Obligations and current regulations. The primary criterion is the 12-month average of the Consumer Price Index (CPI), announced monthly by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). A temporary regulation introduced in 2022 temporarily capped the housing rent increase rate at a 25% upper limit. However, with the end of this regulation in 2024, the 12-month average CPI became valid again in 2025. This means landlords can set their rent increases so that they don't exceed the announced 12-month average CPI.
