Credit growth in the Eurozone

As expected, bank loans to households in the euro area increased by 2.6 percent year-on-year in September 2025, reaching their highest level since March 2023. This increase reflects a continued recovery in credit demand, supported by the European Central Bank's recent policy easing. Furthermore, loans to businesses increased by 2.9 percent, below the 3 percent increase in August. Meanwhile, overall private sector credit growth remained at 2.8 percent, the same level as the previous month.
