Citizens react to the closure of the coastal road in Üsküdar

The coastal path between the Kandilli Pier and the Edip Efendi Mansion in Üsküdar, a long-time destination for walking and fishing, has allegedly been closed by municipal crews. The closure of the coastal path has been met with protests. Residents who come to the area to walk and fish stated that the closure of the beach was inconveniencing them and demanded the road be reopened. Aerial footage of the closure was also provided.
A resident named Ahmet Şirvanlı said, "I've been coming here for about 25 years. I fish, I rest, I get some fresh air. But now they've closed the road we use to come and go. We want this place to reopen. Now we can't. I even have trouble climbing the stairs. I'm 75 years old, and when this place was open, I could easily come and go without getting tired. I want it to reopen."
Rıfat Şahin said, "They've closed this area, which we often come to for fishing. We can't cross or cast our lines easily anymore. We want this place to be open to the public again. Currently, we have to walk up the stairs, and it's quite a distance. We have to cross the road and walk around from there. That's quite difficult. That's why we want them not to close this place."
