CHP's Ağbaba calls for farmers' debts to be postponed for at least one year without interest

Agricultural frost, rising input costs, drought, and extreme temperatures have put a strain on farmers this year. CHP Malatya Deputy Veli Ağbaba called for farmers facing this challenging period to have their debts to Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives deferred interest-free for at least one year.
"If the debts are not postponed, the crisis will deepen"CHP member Veli Ağbaba, who made a written statement on the issue, noted that the crisis would deepen further if the debts of the producers to Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives were not postponed, and included the following statements:
We are concerned that the number of farmers unable to repay their loans will increase in the coming months. We are concerned that producers already struggling to survive will face foreclosure. We are concerned that this situation could lead to the transfer of assets or the halting of production processes, thus turning into a major agricultural crisis.
Ağbaba, noting that producers had not been paid for months after the great agricultural frost in April, used the following expressions in his statement:
It's being reported that payments will finally be made in September. Our party's agricultural commission, in a meticulous study, revealed that producers' per-acre expenses exceed 10,000 lira, and requested a support payment of at least 10,000 lira. While not officially announced, it's being stated that producers will receive a payment of 5,500 lira per acre.
We don't believe a support payment equal to half of the total cost is sufficient. However, the real problem, as much as the amount itself, will arise when these payments are deposited into producers' accounts and blocked by Ziraat Bank and the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives against their debts. Producers will be left with no money left for fertilizer, pesticides, diesel fuel, or even to care for their trees next year.
Additionally, enforcement documents will begin to be sent to producers who owe money to Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives and have no income this year. Therefore, regardless of whether they are registered with TARSİM, the interest on existing agricultural loan debts owed to Ziraat Bank and Agricultural Credit Cooperatives must be waived and these debts deferred for at least one year.
