Bursa Commodity Exchange is 101 years old

ECONOMY (BURSA) - The Bursa Commodity Exchange (Bursa Commodity Exchange), founded on September 11, 1924, by Miller Halil Ali Pasha Zade İbrahim Bey and his friends under the name Bursa Grain Exchange, is celebrating its 101st anniversary. Having been at the center of the regional economy for over 100 years and pioneering the development of agricultural trade, the Bursa Commodity Exchange also stands out with its strategic steps that shape the future of agriculture and trade by blending past experience with today's technology. In a statement on the anniversary, Bursa Commodity Exchange Chairman Özer Matlı stated that the Bursa Commodity Exchange, established to contribute to the rapid development of the young republic and the economic independence of our country, has gone beyond being an institution where products are bought and sold, with a registered transaction volume exceeding 35 billion lira. It has become an organization that invests in the future of agriculture, supports producers, and adapts trade to the demands of the age.
President Özer Matlı emphasized that BTB is one of Türkiye's most established institutions and stated that their vision is not only about building today but also tomorrow. He said, “We support the expansion of sustainable production models and prioritize the branding of high-value-added products. We protect our local products through geographical indications and continue our efforts to carry these values into the future. In line with this vision, our UR-GE project, which facilitates our members' expansion into foreign markets, the Food Specialized Organized Industrial Zone, for which we are currently working, and our project school, Hamidiye Agricultural High School, which trains future agricultural professionals, will provide Bursa with a strong infrastructure for agricultural production and the food industry.”
