Beşiktaş objects to Orkun Kökçü

In a statement, the club emphasized that Orkun Kökçü’s action was not even a foul, saying, “When the match referee and VAR referee’s actions that led to Orkun Kökçü’s sending off from the field are examined, and the true nature of the position that was not even a foul is examined, it is clear that there was not even a foul committed by Orkun Kökçü, let alone an illegal movement. Orkun Kökçü’s foot was caught under the body of opposing player Festy Oseiwe Ebosele during the position, and because of this, our player felt deep pain and suffering. Kökçü, as a reflex when he immediately tried to free his leg from under the opposing player due to the intense pain he was exposed to, his foot inadvertently contacted the opposing player, as detailed in our defense petition.”

The statement, which requested the PFDK to implement provisions regarding unfair provocation and discretionary reductions, stated, "We would like to inform you that the action that led to our player Orkun Kökçü's red card should not even have been considered a foul under normal circumstances. However, imposing a penalty of ban on our player for illegal conduct, despite the action not being a foul, would be contrary to law and justice. We leave it to the public to judge the referees' emotions and psychological state based on their tone of voice and speaking style in the VAR recording of the incident, which was shared with the public."
