It will be the largest museum in the world: 950 rooms, 30,000 works

According to the Daily Mail, the complex, built during the British colonial era and consisting of a north and south block, contains approximately 4,000 rooms. While government offices are planned to be relocated, the construction of new offices in the area and the completion of the new parliament building are also prominent in the process.

950 ROOMS, 30,000 ARTIFACTS FOR THE WORLD'S LARGEST MUSEUM

The museum is being considered the Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum and is planned to replace the National Museum in Delhi. The project, whose name means "eternal India" in Sanskrit, will utilize 950 rooms of the building for the museum. It will display approximately 25,000 to 30,000 artifacts celebrating the country's history and culture. The timing of the transformation, the budget, and other details are not yet clear.

FROM CROWDED CORRIDORS TO MODERN OFFICES

It's reported that the Central Secretariat has become so overcrowded over the years that some rooms have been partitioned to create new spaces. Neelam Deo, who worked in the foreign service, says, "New rooms were carved out of wide corridors. Suddenly, you'd see a bathroom built under the stairs. It was a constant struggle to create space." Former diplomat KP Fabian describes the building as "impressive."

New offices nearby are being built in glass and steel, with a more modern look than the Central Secretariat. "The facade was incredibly grand, of course, but the interior of the north block wasn't as special," Deo adds. "People overestimate that vibe. Staff would be much better off in functional offices, not in a nostalgic haze."
