He returned like a storm after a 10-year break: He signed a deal for a second film

The film will be directed by Jake Szymanski, known for his work on the Jury Duty series. The screenplay is by Laura Solon, who is also producing alongside Mark Moran.
Bad Day tells the story of a single mother trying to survive the toughest day of her life while keeping a promise to her young daughter. The film is described as a comedic adaptation of 1993's Falling Down. Schumacher's original starred Michael Douglas as a father who spirals out of control on an ordinary day.
Netflix quickly greenlit the project, with filming slated to begin this fall in New York and New Jersey.
She starred in high-grossing films before taking a break. Before taking a break from cinema in 2014, Cameron Diaz was one of Hollywood's highest-paid actresses with high-grossing films such as There's Something About Mary, The Holiday, Bad Teacher and Shrek.
Netflix made a serious offer to convince the star actress to return to the camera. Diaz's reunion with Jamie Foxx on the same project was one of the biggest drivers behind her return.
Back in Action quickly gained popularity after its release on the platform in January. According to Nielsen data, in just six months, the film reached the 6th spot on Netflix's most-watched movies list and the third-most-watched film of the year across all digital platforms.
But Bad Day isn't Diaz's only project planned for 2025 and beyond. The actress will reprise her voice role as Princess Fiona in Shrek 5. The film is set to be released on December 23, 2026.
Diaz shared her feelings about returning to acting during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show earlier this year, saying, "It's been incredible that even after 10 years, the doors were still open." She also gave special thanks to Jamie Foxx for his role in her return.
