Ankara will be the capital of theatre

The 28th International Ankara Theatre Festival, organized by the Foundation for Social Research, Culture and Arts ( TAKSAV ) with the theme of "Art for a Livable World," begins on November 21.
The festival , which will kick off with a ceremony at the Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center, will make Ankara the capital of theater until December 1st. This year's festival selection includes 28 plays from Ankara, Istanbul, Diyarbakır, Denizli, Bolu, İzmir, and nine other provinces, along with companies from Iran and Northern Cyprus. The festival, which stands out with its rich program, will present the Honorary Award to master artist Yücel Erten, the Labor Award to Prof. Dr. Tülin Sağlam, and the Sevda Şener Playwright Award to playwright Ahmet Sami Özbudak.
Some of the prominent productions at the theatre festival, which has been going on for a quarter of a century, are as follows:
JAPANESE PUPPET - EĞİTİM-SEN ANKARA BRANCH NO. 4 THEATRE GROUPWritten in 1967 by Italian playwright Dario Fo, the one-act "Japanese Puppet" tells the story of factory workers who are being subjected to mechanization. Directed by Meral Erdoğan Şahin and Efil Yasemen Karlıtepe, the play will premiere on November 22nd at the Çankaya Municipality Yılmaz Güney Stage.
BIRTHDAY - DOMI THEATREThe children's play "Birthday" explores the conflict between twin sisters stemming from their similarities and the fact that they were born on the same day, utilizing elements of physical theater like pantomime. The play will premiere at the Çankaya Municipality Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center on November 23rd.
I AM A WORKER - DENIZLI PEOPLE'S THEATREZehra Kosova is a tobacco worker who continues her journey through the population exchange in the new republic. "I Am a Worker" brings to the stage the 91-year-old Kosova's will to change today for the better tomorrow she dreams of. Written and directed by Hasan Tanay, the play will premiere on November 23rd at the Çankaya Municipality Yılmaz Güney Stage.

Written by Roland Schimmelpfennig, "The Golden Dragon" tells the story of a young Chinese man, estranged from his homeland, searching for his sister. Directed by Ozan Gökmen, the play awaits theatergoers on November 24th at the Çankaya Municipality Yaşar Kemal Cultural Center.
