A matter of curiosity before the anniversary of Democracy and National Unity Day: Are July 14-15 a public holiday?

July 15th is commemorated annually as the anniversary of the 2016 coup attempt. The more than 240 citizens who lost their lives in this treacherous attempt against democracy and the will of the people are commemorated with events held across the country. Following the decision, July 15th was declared an official holiday, "Democracy and National Unity Day."

As is the case every year, commemoration ceremonies, marches, exhibitions, and various events are expected to be held in many cities, particularly Ankara and Istanbul, on July 15th. In addition to official ceremonies with the President's participation, programs for families of martyrs and veterans will also be held.

Many employees who will be on holiday on Tuesday, July 15th are wondering about the holiday situation on July 14th. However, July 14th is not included in the official holiday calendar. Therefore, businesses and employees will continue their normal working hours on Monday.
