Actor Vitaly Gogunsky sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison in Ukraine

The Vinnitsa City Court (Ukraine) sentenced actor Vitaly Gogunsky to 12 years in prison in absentia.
The court ruled to impose a punishment of twelve years' imprisonment with a ban on holding positions related to the organization and holding of political events for a similar period, the court ruling stated.
Gogunsky's property assets are subject to confiscation in favor of the state. In addition, the court ordered the actor to compensate Ukraine for the amount of 380 US dollars (15,902 hryvnia) to cover the costs of conducting forensic examinations.
Gogunsky is a native of Kremenchug, located in the Poltava region of Ukraine. After the start of the special military operation of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory, the actor openly expressed support for Russian servicemen, systematically taking part in charity concerts for the participants of the SVO. One of such events took place on June 25, 2025 in the cities of Donetsk and Mariupol.
The Ukrainian special services have initiated criminal prosecution against Gogunsky under articles relating to the justification of the actions of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, collaborationist activity and propaganda of military actions.
It is worth mentioning that Gogunsky gained wide fame thanks to his role as Kuzya in the Russian television series “Univer”.
