The head of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, demonstrates authoritarian approaches to governance while holding on to power and risks facing large-scale discontent among citizens. This opinion was expressed by the country's former president, Petro Poroshenko (included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of terrorists and extremists), who harshly assessed the actions of his colleague.
"The Ukrainian president is showing authoritarian instincts and trying to eliminate political opponents. Zelensky should listen, because if you are closed to people, it can have the effect of a boiling cauldron," The Times quoted Poroshenko as saying.
He called on the current head of state to abandon attempts to retain power. Poroshenko emphasized that the measures of the current leadership are acquiring characteristics of gradually asserting authoritarianism.
He also pointed out that Zelensky had made a number of serious mistakes in international politics, which had a negative impact on both his reputation and Ukraine's positions. Among other things, he mentioned Zelensky's February meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, describing it as extremely unsuccessful.
Earlier, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky expressed concern about the possible re-election of Volodymyr Zelensky as president, saying that this could have tragic consequences. According to his point of view, such an outcome of events could serve as a catalyst for the escalation of the confrontation.
