Académica-OAF ends first week of training with test

After six days of work, at Academia Briosa XXI, the first test: Académica hosts Fátima today, 4th in the Portuguese Championship last season. With a small squad and only a few days of training – even more than Fátima, who only started on Wednesday – António Barbosa won't have many lessons to draw from today's game, but he can take advantage of the new faces and young players who are trying to convince him to stay. The match will see the return of a Fátima player to the Briosa XXI Academy pitch. Defender Dinis Almeida, who played for Briosa's youth team in the 2023/2024 season, shared a locker room with goalkeeper José Roxo and midfielder Gui Monteiro, from the current squad. António Barbosa currently has in his squad at his disposal the goalkeepers António Filipe, José Roxo and Carlos Alves (ex-Fafe); the defenders Chico Ferreira, Ricardo Teixeira, Guilherme Silva (ex-Fafe) and Tiago André (ex-Trofense); the midfielders Montez, Leandro Silva, Gui Monteiro (ex-Marialvas) and Gonçalo Ferreira; and also the forwards Nuno Barbosa (ex-Trofense), Nuno Pereira (ex-Varzim), Silvério Indunga (ex-Sintrense) and Camilo Triana (ex-Belenenses).
From the youth academy, defenders Miguel Lima, 17, and Filipe Gonçalves, 18, and winger Afonso Calé Marques, 18, have been training with the main team.
Reinforcements are missing Looking at the squad, it's likely that several new faces will still be needed before the start of the competition, with defense and midfield being the positions with the greatest needs at this point.
The goal is probably the only area that could already be closed at this point, with Carlos Alves coming in to compete for the starting spot with António Filipe.
