Polish companies are increasingly interested in digital sovereignty

Digital sovereignty means the ability of companies to independently decide where and how their data is stored, what security standards they are subject to, and whether the technologies they use remain dependent solely on local jurisdiction - explains home.pl.
Digital sovereignty is gaining popularity among Polish entrepreneursThe concept of digital sovereignty, which is still considered a niche concept in Poland, is increasingly appearing in strategic discussions about the future of companies in Europe, writes home.pl in its report.
According to a survey conducted by YouGov on behalf of home.pl and IONOS , a significant proportion of representatives of the SME sector in Poland consider digital sovereignty, understood in this way, to be an important or very important issue .
Although, compared to countries like Spain or Germany, Polish businesses are still less likely to translate these declarations into concrete actions, the declaration itself is proof that digital security is entering the strategic agenda of an increasing number of companies.
Data localization is not just a technical issuePolish entrepreneurs have the highest expectations of IT suppliers regarding compliance with standards and norms . As many as 90% of Polish SMEs expect them to strictly adhere to these rules. This is the highest result among the surveyed countries and the most important aspect of digital sovereignty highlighted in the survey by Polish entrepreneurs.
They also clearly recognize that data localization is not just a technical issue, but also a legal and geopolitical one . When choosing an IT service provider, 88% of Polish respondents prioritize infrastructure and secure data localization, while 86% believe that the technology used should be independent of political decisions made outside Europe. This is one of the highest results among the countries surveyed, home.pl comments.
In the face of growing geopolitical tensions and subsequent regulations (such as DORA or NIS2), digital sovereignty is becoming the foundation of business resilience .
October, recognized throughout Europe as Cybersecurity Month, is the perfect time to start a broad debate on how Polish companies can strengthen their digital independence and what solutions they should implement today to remain secure and competitive tomorrow, summarizes home.pl.
