Fire breaks out in building near the Assembly of the Republic

A fire broke out this Thursday morning in an uninhabited building on Rua dos Prazeres in Lisbon. By 8:20 a.m., the fire was already in the extinguishing phase, with no injuries reported, the Lisbon Fire Brigade Regiment reported to Observador.
The alert was raised around 7:25 a.m. The fire started on the roof of a building located on the street parallel to Rua de São Bento, where the Assembly of the Republic is located — the Parliament building is visible in videos shared on social media .

The PSP National Directorate told Observador that the fire affected the third floor of the building, which was used by homeless people.
At around 8:20 a.m., five vehicles from various entities were at the scene, with 18 members of the authorities — however, it was not possible to confirm whether the building had to be evacuated, and, to date, there have been no reports of injuries.
