Alpendurada removes Estrela da Amadora from the Portuguese Cup

Estrela da Amadora, 15th in the I Liga, was eliminated from the Portuguese Football Cup today, after losing 3-1 at Alpendorada, a fourth-tier club, in a third-round match.
The visitors scored first, in the sixth minute, through Rodrigo Pinho, from the penalty spot, but a brace from Pauleta, in the 43rd and 52nd minutes, and a goal from Mário Borges, in the 69th minute, gave the victory to the fifth-placed team in Series B of the Portuguese Championship.
Estrela da Amadora, winner of the competition in 1989/90, was thus the first team from the top division to be eliminated in the 2025/26 edition of the Portuguese Cup.
