The favorites for the Senate in Rio de Janeiro in 2026, according to AtlasIntel research

A survey released this Tuesday 2 by the AtlasIntel institute indicates that Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) is the favorite of voters in the state of Rio to occupy one of the two seats allocated to the state in the Senate in 2026. For the second position, there is still no clear inclination among those interviewed, the results of the survey indicate.
This is the second poll in just two days to point to Flávio as the main contender for the Senate seat in Rio de Janeiro. On Monday, the 1st, it was Paraná Pesquisas' turn . In both cases, the institutes tested two scenarios, each with different names.
Each survey participant presented their voting intention for up to two names, as will be the case at the polls in 2026. Check out the numbers for the two scenarios presented by AtlasIntel to Rio de Janeiro voters regarding the Senate race:
Scenario 1:
- Flavio Bolsonaro (PL) – 22.6%
- Benedita da Silva (PT) – 17%
- Alessandro Molon (PSB) – 16.1%
- Carlos Portinho (PL) – 14.1%
- Clarissa Garotinho (Republicans) – 4.1%
- Otoni de Paula (MDB) – 2.2%
- Other – 11.4%
- Blank/null votes – 8.2%
- I don't know – 4.3%
Scenario 2:
- Flavio Bolsonaro (PL) – 23.1%
- Benedita da Silva (PT) – 17.2%
- Alessandro Molon (PSB) – 16.5%
- Claudio Castro (PL) – 12.4%
- Marcelo Crivella (Republicans) – 2.5%
- Otoni de Paula (MDB) – 1.7%
- Other – 12.2%
- Blank/null votes – 11.4%
- I don't know – 3%
2,001 voters from Rio de Janeiro participated in the survey, in interviews conducted using the random digital recruitment method (Atlas RDR), between August 25th and 29th. The margin of error is two percentage points, either way.
