PSD parliamentary sessions begin this Monday

The PSD parliamentary days, organized jointly with the CDS-PP bench, kick off this Monday in Évora with presidential candidate Luís Marques Mendes as a guest at dinner.
The conferences will run until Tuesday, under the motto “Transforming Portugal” , and will also feature the participation of former Prime Minister Pedro Santana Lopes, former Minister and candidate for the presidency of the Porto municipality, Pedro Duarte, and Cardinal Américo Aguiar, and will be closed by the leader of the PSD and Prime Minister, Luís Montenegro.
Even before the formal opening session, deputies will make two visits this Monday morning: to the Évora 2027 Association—European Capital of Culture and to the future Alentejo Central Hospital, with construction scheduled for completion in late 2026 or early 2027.
At the opening, after lunch, a message is scheduled to be broadcast by the president of the CDS-PP, Nuno Melo, and speeches by the parliamentary leaders of the two parties that made up the pre-election AD coalition: the social democrat Hugo Soares and the Christian democrat Paulo Núncio.
Next comes the address by the Bishop of Setúbal, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, on the theme "Portugal Leaves No One Behind." Between 1993 and 1995, the now-cardinal served as a member of the Leça do Balio parish council and the Matosinhos municipal council, elected by the Socialist Party (PS) on a ticket headed by Narciso Miranda, before leaving politics to enter the seminary.
The last panel of the afternoon, under the motto “Portugal that makes things happen”, will have as speakers the president of Banco de Fomento, José Gonçalo Regalado, the new president of AICEP (Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade), Madalena Oliveira e Silva, and the president of the Deposit and Refund System of Portugal, Leonardo Mathias.
In the evening, the guest at the dinner will be presidential candidate Luís Marques Mendes, who already has the support of the PSD for the presidential elections in January next year, an issue on which the CDS-PP has not yet taken a position.
On Tuesday, the panel will be on “Local Power and State Reform”, with speakers including former Prime Minister Pedro Santana Lopes, current Mayor of Figueira da Foz and independent candidate with the support of the PSD, and Pedro Duarte, former Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of Luís Montenegro's first PSD/CDS-PP executive and candidate for Porto City Council.
Parliamentary proceedings conclude around lunchtime on Tuesday with speeches by the parliamentary leaders of the PSD and CDS-PP and Luís Montenegro.
One of the objectives of the conference will be to prepare for the debate on the " state of the nation ", the last political discussion with the participation of the Prime Minister before the interruption of parliamentary work for the summer recess, scheduled for Thursday.
These are the PSD's first parliamentary sessions since the start of the 17th legislature. In the early legislative elections on May 18, the AD (PSD/CDS-PP) coalition once again won without an absolute majority, electing 91 deputies out of 230 (11 more than a year ago), of which 89 are from the PSD and two from the CDS-PP.
Chega became the second largest parliamentary force, with 60 deputies, followed by the PS, with 58, the IL, with nine, the Livre, with six, the PCP, with three, and BE, PAN and JPP, with one each.
