New iPhones start at 989 euros in Portugal
Apple unveiled new smartphones this Tuesday, the iPhone 17 series, among other products. The brand's Portuguese store has already been updated with the prices of the new products, following the usual lack of availability that occurs on the company's presentation days.

In Portugal, the base model of this year's series, the iPhone 17, will start at €989 and arrive on September 19th. A year ago , the entry-level model had the same price. In the 512 GB configuration, the iPhone 17 will cost €1,239.
iPhone 16. Apple's new smartphones start at 989 euros in Portugal
One of the new products at the event, the iPhone 17 Air, will cost 1,249 euros in Portugal (256 GB), but the 1 TB version will cost 1,749 euros.
The highest prices are in the Pro range, Apple's designation for models with higher-end specifications. Thus, the iPhone 17 Pro will start at €1,349 (256GB version), while the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at €1,499. As in previous years, this is the most expensive device in this year's lineup.
A year ago, the equivalent models, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, started at €1,249 and €1,499 , respectively. This is because, for the first time, all models will start at 256GB of storage.
Apple's announcements during the presentation detail pricing for the US in dollars, always with lower prices than in Portugal. This year, an iPhone 16 starts at $799 in the US. Prices in Portugal are higher due to taxes, among other factors.
It's more expensive to buy a smartphone in Portugal than elsewhere in Europe. Why?
With new models, the iPhones already on the market will see a price drop. From the previous lineup, only the iPhone 16e and 16 will remain. The iPhone 16e now starts at €739, while the iPhone 16 drops from €989 before its launch to €889—a €100 drop. The iPhone 16 Plus drops to €989.
In addition to new iPhones, Apple also introduced three more smartwatches in the Apple Watch lineup. In Portugal, the Watch SE 3 will cost €279, the Watch Series 11 starts at €459, and the Apple Watch Ultra 3 starts at €909. The previous model, the Series 10, started at €459 a year ago.
For audio, the AirPods Pro 3 start at €249. All devices will be available in Portugal on September 19th.
