Motion of censure against Moedas rejected

The Lisbon Municipal Assembly rejected, this Tuesday, the motion of censure, proposed by Chega, against the mayor, Carlos Moedas, following the tragedy of the Glória elevator derailment.
PSD, IL, MPT, Aliança and CDS-PP voted against, BE, Livre, PEV, PCP, two independent deputies from the Citizens for Lisbon movement (elected by the PS/Livre coalition), PS and PAN abstained and PPM and Chega voted in favor.
Chega had presented the motion of censure with the justification that the mayor had failed in his duty to “guarantee the city’s security”.
It should be remembered that 16 people died and more than twenty were injured in the derailment of the Elevador da Glória, which occurred last Wednesday.
